Thigh Lift

Thigh lift is a procedure used to reduce excess skin and fat in the thigh area. A thigh lift will give you redefined, slim, and taut thighs that are proportionate to your stomach, buttocks, and legs.

Many times patients opt to combine a thigh lift with a butt lift and/or liposuction as the procedures can be used to get an excellent body contouring result with a combined recovery time.

What can a thigh lift treat?

A thigh lift can address such issues as:

  • Saggy or flabby thighs
  • Dimpled loose skin on thighs
  • Dissatisfaction or self-consciousness about size or shape of thighs

Is a thigh lift right for me?

A thigh lift is a highly individualized procedure and you should do it for yourself, not to fulfill someone else's desires or to try to fit any sort of ideal image. A thigh lift may be a good option for you if:

  • You are at or near your ideal weight
  • You have a positive outlook and realistic expectations
  • You are physically healthy
  • You are not smoking

What happens during a thigh lift?
  • Step 1 - Anesthesia

Medications are administered for your comfort during the surgical procedure. The choices include intravenous sedation or general anesthesia. Dr. Weinzweig, your Chicago plastic surgeon, and your anesthesiologist, will recommend the best choice for you.

  • Step 2 - The Incision

Incisions in either the groin fold, groin crease, or from the groin around the hip will be made. The location of the incision will depend on the surgical technique required to achieve your desired look.

  • Step 3 - Lift, Tighten, and Remove Excess Skin

After the incisions are made, the skin on the thighs is recontoured, lifted, tightened, and then excess skin is removed resulting in more desirable profile. The incision is then closed.

  • Step 4 - See the Results

The results of a thigh lift are immediately apparent as you will notice a sleeker profile. Final results can be seen once initial post-operative swelling subsides.

What should I expect during the recovery period?

Thigh lift patients generally take a week to resume most of their normal activities.

You will be given specific instructions that may include: How to care for the surgical site, medications to apply or take orally to aid healing and reduce the potential for infection, specific concerns to look for at the surgical site or in your general health, and when to follow up with Dr. Weinzweig, your Chicago cosmetic surgeon.

What are the risks of thigh lift surgery?

All plastic surgery carries risks along with the many rewards as no surgery is risk free. Dr. Jeffrey Weinzweig, your Chicago plastic surgeon, will explain the risks in your consultation so you can make an informed decision based on your unique situation.
