Forehead Lift (Brow Lift)

A forehead lift or brow lift is a surgical procedure often used to restore a youthful, rested, and thinner look to individuals. For many people, the forehead is one of the first areas to show age. A forehead lift will remove a deep unwanted furrows and forehead lines and restore a youthful, smooth look to your upper face.

What happens during a forehead lift?
  • Step 1 - Anesthesia

    Medications are administered for your comfort during the surgical procedure. The choices include intravenous sedation or general anesthesia. Dr. Jeffrey Weinzweig, your Chicago plastic surgeon, and your anesthesiologist, will recommend the best choice for you.

  • Step 2 - The Incision

    Your Chicago cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Jeffrey Weinzweig, will choose the least visible area to make the incision along your hairline and within the scalp. The incision begins at one ear, crosses the forehead region, and ends at the other ear.

  • Step 3 - Remove Excess Skin and Redrape

    The forehead skin is lifted muscles are repositioned or removed, and the eyebrows are lifted. Extra skin in any of these areas will be trimmed.

  • Step 4 - Close the Incision

    The incision is stitched and dressings are applied.

  • Step 5 - See the Results

    Soon after the surgery you should notice the difference in the surface of your forehead. It will be smooth and look younger. Final results will be apparent once the swelling subsides.

    What should I expect during the recovery period?

    When your procedure is completed, a bandage will be gently placed around your face to minimize swelling and bruising. We offer post-surgical make-up assistance to help you conceal bruising during your recovery period.

    You will be given specific instructions that may include: How to care for the surgical site, medications to apply or take orally to aid healing and reduce the potential for infection, specific concerns to look for at the surgical site or in your general health, and when to follow up with Dr. Jeffrey Weinzweig.
