Arm Lift
An arm lift is a procedure used to reduce excess skin and fat in the arms. An armlift can give you redefined, slim, and taut arms that are proportionate to your body. An arm lift can help you feel and look good in short sleeve t-shirts again.
Many times patients opt to combine an arm lift with liposuction as the procedures can be used to get an excellent body contouring result with a combined recovery time.
An arm lift can address such issues as:
- Saggy or flabby arms
- Dimpled loose skin on arms
- Dissatisfaction or self-consciousness about size or shape of arms
An arm lift is a highly individualized procedure and you should do it for yourself, not to fulfill someone else's desires or to try to fit any sort of ideal image. An arm lift may be a good option for you if:
- You are at or near your ideal weight
- You have a positive outlook and realistic expectations
- You are physically healthy
- You do not smoke
Medications are administered for your comfort during the surgical procedure. The choices include intravenous sedation or general anesthesia. Dr. Weinzweig, your Chicago plastic surgeon, and your anesthesiologist will recommend the best choice for you.
Incisions will be made on the inside or back of your arms. The incision pattern will vary based on the extent of the surgery, your preference and the required technique to achieve your goals.
After the incision, if there is excess fat it may be removed with liposuction.
Excessive skin is trimmed and tightened. The skin is redraped and the incision is then closed.
The results of an arm lift are immediately apparent. You will notice a sleeker arm profile. Final results can be seen once the initial post-operative swelling subsides.
Arm lift patients generally take a week to resume most normal activities.
You will be given specific instructions that may include: How to care for the surgical site, medications to apply or take orally to aid healing and reduce the potential for infection, specific concerns to look for at the surgical site or in your general health, and when to follow up with Dr. Jeffrey Weinzweig.
All plastic surgery carries risks along with the many rewards as no surgery is risk free. Dr. Jeffrey Weinzweig, your Chicago plastic surgeon, will explain the risks in your consultation so you can make an informed decision based on your unique situation.
